The Sector Leadership Master Class (SLMC) is an online, interactive 3-day program focused on the challenges and opportunities that law firm managing partners, c-suite leaders, and sector heads face when championing and leading industry sector groups. Through recent surveys with hundreds of general counsel, our faculty team heard time and again that the most important way external counsel can add value during times of uncertainty, like the COVID-19 pandemic, is through industry-specific information and advice. This Master Class optimizes participants’ ability to deliver distinctive advantages in their sector-focused work, improving client service.
Participants have found that participating in this program with several firm colleagues allowed them to develop a more implementable cross-sector strategy during the program. If considering a firm-based cohort, we recommend including leaders of the business development or marketing (or equivalent) teams along with sector heads or a managing partner.

About the Format
The Sector Leadership Master Class will take place on Zoom. In order to complete the program and earn a certificate of completion, participants are expected to attend every session. As with our on-campus programs, class size will be limited.
There will be two program sessions every day (December 1 – 3, 2020) between the hours of 10:00am ET and 4:00pm ET. Accepted participants should reserve this window on their calendars until we circulate a finalized program schedule. Each session will be between 1-2 hours long, and we will schedule a break of at least 30 minutes between the two daily sessions.
Building Community and Networks
Our highly interactive sessions will include frequent breakout group discussions and small-group work. These opportunities will help ensure that participants will not only learn from the Faculty, but more importantly get to know each other and learn from each other’s thoughts, ideas and perspectives. Additionally, participants who complete the program will join our global Alumni Network, through which they will be invited to attend future residential and online programs offered by HLS Executive Education.
